Betty Jane Lewis, age 69, of 245 Memorial Drive, Sturgis, died at 7:05 p.m. Thursday May 12, 2011, at her home.
She was born May 13, 1941, in Temple, to Vernon and Dorothy M. Northrup. She had lived in LaGrange, Ind., prior to moving to Sturgis, and had been employed at Mastercraft.
She is survived by a son, Bruce and Tina Lewis of Howe, Ind.; a daughter, Patty Hart of Sturgis; two brothers, Vernon Northrup of Wheeler and Ned Northrup of Texas; two sisters, Verneal Harper of Sturgis and Shirley Gee of California; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, John Northrup, Norman Northrup, Ed Northrup, Owen Northrup and Bob Northrup; and a sister, Nancy Clark.
According to her wishes, cremation will take place. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Carney-Frost Funeral Home in LaGrange.
A memorial service for Betty will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Pastor Jeff Stedge officiating.
