William “Bill” Judson Affhalter, 79, of Constantine, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Heartland Healthcare Center. William was born June 15, 1931 in Colon the son of George and Edith (Brock) Affhalter.
William was a long time resident of Constantine. William entered the U.S. Army in 1952 and served his country proudly in the Korean Conflict. Upon returning in 1954 he worked in construction jobs for many years. William was a member of the American Legion Post #170 for 45 years and also a member of the Laborer’s International Union for 42 years.
William was very talented at using his hands to construct many different things such as model ships, cars and farmhouses. He truly enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his beloved grandchildren and his six furry feline friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, George, Max, Russell, Roger and Robert.
William is survived by his lifetime companion for over 40 years, Darla Ryan of Constantine; daughters, Renee (the late Robert) Sheetz and Nancy (Ron) Nelson both of Calhoun, Ga.; son-in-law, Mike Wolfe, Sr. of Three Rivers; sister, Betty Iliff of Plainwell; grandchildren, Michael (Nicole Wood) Wolfe, Jr. of Three Rivers, Steven (Amanda Dobberteen) Wolfe of Three Rivers, Kristen (Lincoln) Lake of Darton, Ga., Christopher Scheetz and Brian Scheetz both of Atlanta, Ga., and Amanda (Derik Silvers) Scheetz of Calhoun, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Coley and Peyton Silvers of Calhoun, Ga., Mason Wolfe, and Alexa Manville of Three Rivers, and one great-great-grandson, Connor William Lake, on the way.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18 at Hohner Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 19 at 11 a.m. at Hohner Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Lane officiating.
Interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Three Rivers, with military honors under the auspices of the American Legion Post #170.
