Frank Dreger, 96

Francis Lawrence “Frank” Dreger, 96, of Three Rivers, died Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Heartland Health Care Center. He was born in Chicago on Oct. 23, 1914 the son of Henry and Caroline (Rowles) Dreger and was a lifetime resident of Chicago. He was married to Phyllis Hughes in 1941, and she died in 1988. Frank was a pipefitter and worked at the G.M. Electromotive Plant #2 in Chicago. He was also a musician and entertainer in Chicago area clubs and on the radio.

Frank is survived by a son, Larry Dreger of Three Rivers; a daughter, Karen Cook of Key West, Fla.; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Frankowski of Centreville and Marc (Gina) Dreger of Constantine; six great-grandchildren, Vinnie, Cassie, and Mikey Frankowski and Kianna, Marcus, and Ava Dreger; four brothers, Paul, Fred, Peter, and Robert Dreger; four sisters, Mary Kuester, Florence Schelberg, Margaret Elsner and Sister Irma Dreger; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and three brothers, Hank, Joe, and Edward Dreger.

The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, May 15 at the Eickhoff Farrand Halverson Chapel in Three Rivers. Interment services will take place next at 1 p.m. (Chicago time) Wednesday, May 18, in Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, Ill. Memorials will be directed to Our Lady of Knock Catholic Church in Calumet City, Ill. An online register is available at www.efhchapel.com.
