Ruth Cora Tutewiler, age 89, of Leonidas, died Saturday May 21, 2011, following a long illness.
She was born in Cherokee County, Okla., the daughter of James F. and Cora (Warner) Draper. The family moved to Leonidas when Ruth was in the fifth grade, and she graduated from Athens High School. Ruth was married to Richard Tutewiler on Sept. 6, 1947, in Factoryville. He died on Jan. 3, 2002. Ruth had worked at Continental Can Co. in Three Rivers and had operated an adult foster care home for several years. She was a member of the Sherwood Free Methodist church, and enjoyed quilting in her spare time.
Ruth is survived by three children, Lucile Bloom of Three Rivers, Bill (Bobby) Tutewiler of Leonidas, and Ed (Diann) Tutewiler of DesPlains, Ill.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister; and two brothers.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Sherwood Free Methodist Church with Rev. Daryl Dexter officiating. Burial will be in Leonidas Cemetery.
