Dale Robert Schrader, age 87, of Centreville, MI passed away June 1, 2011, at the Fairview Nursing & Rehabilitation Centre in Centreville. Born in Centreville on March 1, 1924, a son of Clarence F. and Lillian (Grime) Schrader, he graduated from Centreville High School in 1942. Dale served in the US Marine Corp. during W.W.II. On November 17, 1945 he married Gwynn Walsh in Highland, IN. Dale was a member of the Hice Shutes American Legion Post 170, Three Rivers, and Three Rivers Elks Club. He was a very active in the Centreville Village, serving as a Trustee from 1954-1972, Village President from 1972-1978, Fire Dept. from 1951-1974, and was Fire Chief from 1960-1974. Dale enjoyed bowling, euchre, travel, camping, horseshoes & square dancing.
Surviving Dale are his wife Gwynn Schrader, Centreville, daughters Keli (Steve) Quake, Centreville, Sheli (Joe) Hittler, Sturgis, sons Marc (Sherry) Schrader, Chad (Kim) Schrader, all of Three Rivers, 8 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren, many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren, sisters Betty (Paul) Bolender, Centreville, and Mary Jane (Dale) Dean, Berrien Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Dale R. Schrader, Jr., brother Donald Schrader, and step-brother Jack Daniels.
According to his wishes cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends will be received Friday from 6-8 pm at the Eley Funeral Home in Centreville, where Memorial Services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Pastor David Peterson of the Centreville Baptist Church will officiate.
