LeRoy V. Yoder, age 67, of Sturgis, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, July 25, 2011.
He was born April 10, 1944, in Three Rivers, a son to the late Verne E. and Miriam J. (Bontrager) Yoder.
LeRoy had been a resident of the Sturgis area all his life, and was married to Sherley Ann Kipker for 10 years before it ended in divorce.
He had been employed by Trophy Homes in Elkhart, Ind., for 32 years and was forced to quit for health reasons eight years ago.
He was a member of New Beginnings Community Church and enjoyed the outdoors, especially working in the yard and his flower gardening.
Surviving are a son, James (Lisa) Yoder of Sturgis; a grandson, Thomas Shaffer, currently in boot camp with the U.S. Navy in Great Lakes, Ill.; two brothers, Eugene (Debbie) Yoder of Sturgis and Joe Henry (Elsie) Yoder of Livingston, La.; seven sisters, Betty Jean (Amos) Miller of Goshen, Ind., Sue (Reuben) Troyer of Colon, Ruby (Leroy) Miller of Middlebury, Ind., Irma (Lee) Schwartz of Sturgis, Pauline (Melvin) Hochstetler of Centreville, Norma (Perry) Miller of Centreville and Wanda (Wayne) Yoder of Centreville; 44 nieces and nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, and 4-8 p.m. Thursday at New Beginnings Community Church, 63022 N. M-66, Sturgis, MI 49091.
Services celebrating the life of LeRoy V. Yoder will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with Pastor Randy Evans officiating.
Graveside services and interment will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery in Findley. Memorial donations may be directed to the New Beginnings Community Church.
