David Michael Furlong, age 68, of Three Rivers, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Pontiac, MI., on May 4, 1943 the son of Carl and Lavina (Wohlfert) Furlong.
Mr. Furlong has been a long time resident of Three Rivers. David spent many years as a service manager for several different car dealerships. Over the last eight years he’s been employed at Waste Management. David was also a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
He loved to garden, do yard work, be outdoors, and especially spend time with his family, children, and grandchildren.
Mr. Furlong was preceded in death by his parents and one son, David Furlong Jr.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife, Karen (Tabaczuk) Furlong, of Three Rivers whom he married on May 20, 2005; two daughters, Amy Oldham and Sara (Allen) Burr, both of Three Rivers; two sons, Todd Furlong, of Mt. Pleasant, and Trevor (Megan) Furlong, of McAlester, OK.; two step-children, Craig (Shirley) Emerick, of Elkhart, IN., and Tracey (Rich) Saunders, of Three Rivers; four siblings, Kenny Furlong, of Kalamazoo, MI., Phillip (Donna) Furlong, of Three Rivers, Danny Furlong, of Constantine, and Laurie (Tom) Hardy, of Midland, MI.; sixteen grandchildren, Brandon, Nicholas, Lauren, Nichole, Danielle, Rachel, Allison, Bailee, Nick, Mitch, Chloe, Brandon, Heston, Lilly, Shelby and Brady. Several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at the Hohner funeral home.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 12, 2011 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Fr. Mark Vyverman as celebrant.
Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Three Rivers.
