Rachel Rostamo, 73

Rachel Yvonne Rostamo, 73, of Rockford, Ill., and formerly of Sturgis, passed away Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, after a courageous 22-year battle with breast cancer.

She was born Oct. 10, 1937, in Sturgis, a daughter of Maynard and Gelorne (Wetzel) Myers.

On Oct. 15, 1955, she married Wallace G. Rostamo in Michigan. Rachel worked at Cupid Inn and Patterson Restaurant in Sturgis, and later was a supervisor at Anderson Packaging in Rockford. She was a member of Calvary Christian Church and the Women’s 100 Club at LLL.

Survivors include her children, Jeff (Rose) Rostamo, Jody Bellone, Julie (Terry) Dodge and Joel (Kimberly) Rostamo; grandchildren Michele, Jeffrey, Joshua, Gabriella, Ryan, Adam, Chelsea, Tommy, Aaron, Kaitlyn, Brandy, Brittany and Jack; great-grandchildren Andrew, Hannah, Martha, Rachel, Lilian, Gabriel, Sophia, Anthony, Natalia, Joscelyn, Juliana, Vincenzo and Giovanni; a great-great-grandchild, Kaidence; a sister, Nancy (Wally) Krontz; numerous nieces and nephews; and special cousin, Sue Owen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wallace; and a nephew, Craig Krontz.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, with the Rev. Steve Doyle of Calvary Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. today and 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the family.
