Barbara L. Diekman, age 68, of Burr Oak, passed away Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at her home.
She was born Dec. 2, 1942, a daughter of John and Grace (Cornett) Gose.
On June 10, 1961, she married Gerald W. Diekman in Sturgis.
Barbara worked at Haas Corporation in Mendon and Maxitrol Company in Colon before retiring in 2008. She enjoyed being with her family, gardening, traveling and playing cards.
Barbara was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Centreville.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald, of Burr Oak; two sons, Larry (Robbie) Diekman of Burr Oak, and Douglas (Lisa) Diekman of Mendon; a daughter, Tina (Richard) Engle of Colon; grandchildren, Jared, Derek, Jackie, Emma Wyatt, Kelsey, Danielle, Maddison, Jordan Diekman and McKenzie Decker; sisters Edna Rossman of Kendallville, Ind., Darlene (Robert) Feister of Centreville, and Florence Lung of Sturgis; and one brother Johnny (Annie) Gose of Monroe; and many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Tana Diekman; parents, John and Grace (Cornett) Gose; a brother, James Gose; sisters, O’Dell Ferry, Joyce Clark, Georgia Rossman and Dorothy Williams.
There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating the life of Barbara Diekman will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, at St. Paul’s Luther Church in Centreville with pastor David Grimm officiating. In Lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made in memory of Barbara to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Centreville for the air conditioning fund. The family was assisted by the Schipper Funeral Home LTD. in Colon.
