Donald Lee Brueck, age 74, of Mendon, died peacefully at home in the presence of his family on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011.
Don was born Dec. 13, 1936, near Burr Oak, a son of Albert F. and Dorothy J. (Fisher) Brueck.
On Aug. 20, 1955, he married Sharlene Batten, and they have resided in Mendon since 1957. Don was employed at the Haas Corporation, Triple-S Plastics, and Lear Plastics while he engaged in general farming. He was a member of the Mendon Fire Department for 27 years, and served on the Heritage School Committee. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, mushrooming, working in his shop, and illuminating his yard at Christmas. He also enjoyed working in his garden, working on antique tractors, and attending Mendon High School sporting events.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sharlene; four children, Cathy Jo (Ron) Coleman of Three Rivers, Doug (Katie) Brueck of Leonidas, Julie (Steve) Kline of Mendon and Denny (Kathy) Brueck of Mendon; seven grandchildren, Brian, Mike, Derek and Andy Brueck, Nicole (Tim) Moul, Brett Kline, and Bobby Kretschman; a great-grandchild, Brayden Moul; very special in-laws; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Carol Lynn; brothers Vern, Richard, Alfred Jr. and Harold; and a sister, Marian Frye.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday and 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Crossroads Missionary Church, with the Rev. Bryan Balasa, and the Rev. Clint Zehr officiating. Burial will follow in Mendon Cemetery.
