Mary Marie (Freeland) Dillon entered the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ, Sept. 21, 2011, in Germantown, Tenn.
Mary was born March 3, 1921, to Arden and Evangeline Freeland in Sturgis, where she lived much of her life, graduating from Sturgis High School in 1939.
In 1941, she married David Dillon, celebrating 67 years of marriage until he passed away in 2009. Together they conceived of and founded Bair Lake Bible Camp in Jones, which is completing its 54th year of ministry to approximately 400,000 campers.
Active also in the Sturgis Bible Chapel, First Baptist Church in Troy, Ohio, and Grace Chapel in St. Petersburg, Fla., she blessed countless people with her servant’s heart, her sweet and gentle spirit, and her gift of conversation.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband; her parents; and by her brother, John Freeland.
She is survived by five grateful children, Tom (Michele) of Dublin, Ohio, Jack of Fort Wayne, Ind., Sandy (Butch) Shook of Pembroke Pines, Fla., Marty (David) Hogue of Germantown and Robyn (Dave) Hughes of Findlay, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren, all of whom rise up and call her blessed.
Contributions may be made in her memory to Bair Lake Bible Camp, 12500 Prang Street, Jones, MI 49061.
