Cloise W. Cannons, age 85, of Cadillac, formerly of Constantine, passed away Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011, at Lakeview Lutheran Manor in Cadillac, Mich.
He was born in Chicago, on Aug. 2, 1926, a son of Victor and Emma (Chance) Cannons.
Cloise served in the US Navy during World War II. Prior to entering the Navy, Cloise had worked at Drake Casket Company in Constantine. He later worked for Kirsch Company in Sturgis and was caretaker at the St. Joseph County Conservation Club.
On Feb. 27, 1987, he married Vivian Mead in Centreville. Together they enjoyed frequent yard sales. He also loved hunting, fishing, trapping, camping, and morel hunting. Cloise was active with the Constantine Boy Scout Troop, where he was Boy Scout Commissioner for 45 years. He and Vivian had attended New Covenant Christian Fellowship in Colon.
Cloise is survived by his wife, Vivian Cannons, Cadillac; children Victor (Mary) Cannons of Hole in the Wall, Tenn., Carol Yesh of Cadillac, David (Pam) Vaughn of White Pigeon, Dale (Christine) Vaughn of Bronson; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he was looking forward to his first great-great-grandchild in the spring. He was preceded by his parents; three brothers; and two sisters.
Relatives and friends will be received Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at Eley Funeral Home in Constantine, where services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. Pastor Clint Zehr will officiate. Interment will be at Constantine Cemetery. Online messages may be left for the family at www.eleyfuneralhomes.com.
