Georgia Cunnington Pionke, age 88, of Jones, died Monday Nov. 14, 2011 at her home following a long illness. She was born in Walla Walla, WA on Aug. 13, 1923 the daughter of the late Alvin Edward and Anna Elizabeth (Schaub) Cunnington. She was first married to Robert Eugene Miller on June 8, 1944 in Battle Creek, MI. Robert died in 1975. Georgia was married to John Paul Pionke on July 29, 1979 in Kalamazoo. John died in 2009.
Georgia had been employed at Rexall Drugs in Niles, Otto Kihm Tire Co. in Kalamazoo, and the Department of Social Services in Kalamazoo and Cass County. She was a devoted wife and homemaker to both her husbands. She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family.
Georgia is survived by 2 children, Patricia Miller of Greenville, SC and Clay Miller of Cottonwood, AZ; John’s children, Mike (Donna) Pionke of Houghton, Andrew (Loretta) Pionke of White Pigeon; 11 grandchildren, Kimberly (Brandon) Calhoun, Kristin (McCallie) Biddle, Joseph VanEk, Satya Miller, Clea’ Moren, Crystal, Paul, Sarah, and Caitlin Pionke, Jeremy Palmer, and Jamie Russell; 10 great-grandchildren, Morganne, Jakob, and Hutson Biddle, Georgia, Joseph, and Patrick Calhoun, Kamryn Chamness, Josilyn and Jacob Derda, and Levi Russell; a brother, Merlin Demary; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and two husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Miller, a sister, Marjorie Clark; and two brothers Willis and Duane Cunnington.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday Nov. 18, 2011 at the Eickhoff, Farrand, Halverson Chapel in Three Rivers with Rev. Gary Carr, Pastor of the Corey Church of the Nazarene officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Poe Cemetery. Memorials will be directed to Feed the Children.
