David Leroy Deihl, 66, of Sturgis, passed away Tuesday evening, Dec. 13, 2011, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.
He was born May 3, 1945, in Sturgis, a son of the late Cecil and June (Unger) Deihl.
David had resided in the Sturgis area most of his life. He had also lived in LaGrange, Ind., and Battle Creek.
On March 3, 2000, he married Joanne Birch in Battle Creek.
David was a welder by trade, and enjoyed woodworking and tinkering. He loved time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne; two daughters; a son; three stepsons; three stepdaughters; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a sister, Julia Deihl of Ocala, Fla.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating the life of David L. Deihl will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Messiah Lutheran Church, 185 W. Fifth St. in Constantine.
