Joseph J. Phillip, age 67, Three Rivers, died Wednesday Jan. 4, 2012, at his home, following an extended illness.
He was born Jan. 16, 1944, in Chicago, a son of Peter and Lillian (Vieha) Phillip.
Joseph was a graduate of Three Rivers High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1963-1967 and in the Naval Reserve from 1967-1969.
On April 3, 1965, Joseph married Jean A. Wagner in Three Rivers. He was employed as a mechanical contractor, was HVAC licensed self-employed and worked for Burr Oak Tool and Guage.
Joseph was a member of the St. Joseph County Conservation and Sportsman Club, the American Legion Post No. 223 of Constantine, Veteran of Foreign Wars and a life member of the NRA. He enjoyed hunting with his beloved dog Molly.
Surviving are his wife, Jean Phillip of Three Rivers; daughter, Leslie (Monte) Balyeat of Three Rivers; a son, Christopher Phillip of Three Rivers; two stepgrandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; mother, Lillian Phillip of Sturgis; brothers and sisters, Dorothy (Kelly) Riordan of Washington, Bernadette Mihills of Florida, Peter (Diane) Phillip of Georgia, Margaret (Carl) Willm of Missouri, Dr. William (Terri) Phillip and James (Sandi) Phillip of Washington; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Tom Millard of Mendon.
He was preceded in death by his father; and a sister, Mary Jean Fetz.
A private graveside services and interment of cremains will be at a later date.
