Eleanor E. Lutz, 83, of White Pigeon, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, at The Laurels in Coldwater, after an extended illness.
She was born Jan. 5, 1928, in Upland, Ind., a daughter of Clifford and Elnore (Thornburgh) Barrett. She had been a resident of the White Pigeon and Sturgis area all her life. She was a graduate of White Pigeon High School.
On Nov. 19, 1946, she married Paul D. Whisler in Constantine. He preceded her in death July 24, 1991. Her second marriage was to Richard Lutz, who preceded her in death.
In her early life, she was employed at Sears, Montgomery Ward and Murphy Mart in Sturgis. She was later employed as manager of White Pigeon Paper Mill Credit Union, from where she retired.
She was a member of White Pigeon Church of Christ, Mintdale Women’s Club and Red Hatters, and she enjoyed square dancing.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Sherry Whisler of White Pigeon; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Arthur (Bonnie) Barrett of Chicago; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents; and three sisters.
Visitation will take place 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Pastor Barry Edds of White Pigeon Church of Christ officiating. Interment will follow in White Pigeon Township Cemetery.
