Investigators from the Michigan State Police at White Pigeon post said a 19-year-old man from Indiana was released Tuesday for lack of evidence after he attempted to meet two 14-year-old girls in Centreville.
Police said the man was in a van and parked outside a vacant house on Birkhold Street. The man told police he was meeting two girls, ages 18 and 17 years, for dinner after becoming acquainted with them on a social networking site.
Investigators eventually made contact with the girls and both turned out to be 14-year-olds from Centreville. The parents of the two girls were notified of the incident.
Even though police found a number of stuffed animals, a box of candy, and blankets and pillows in the man’s vehicle, he was released without charges.
