St. Joseph County’s search for an interim finance director may lead it to someone who has retired from the position in a different county.
Though the St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners did not discuss the matter during its bi-monthly meeting Tuesday, minutes from the commission’s executive committee meeting show a suggestion was made to consider finding a recently retired treasurer from another county.
There was no indication the county would pursue the possibility, but the concept could land the county someone to fill the position for the balance of 2012 until a new treasurer is elected in November for a term that begins Jan. 1, 2013.
Current treasurer Phyllis Bainbridge is retiring at the end of the month and the county has not been successful in finding a replacement.
