Lamar William Kane, age 74, of Burr Oak, passed away Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at Sturgis Hospital.
He was born Nov. 27, 1937, in Sturgis, a son of the late Harry and Stella (Sites) Kane.
Lamar had been a resident of Burr Oak his entire life. On June 10, 1959, he married Alta K. Barkman.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1955-1957 during the Korean War.
He had been employed at Doerr Products for 22 years and at Tube Fabricators for eight years. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife: Alta; four daughters, Tammey (William) Lindblom of Lafayette, Ind., Darlene (Grant) Kanouse of Sturgis, Julie (Robert) Boes of Gobles and Kandi (Andrew) Ramer of Colon and Burr Oak; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Loran “Mike” Kane of Burr Oak; a sister, Marilyn (Richard) Rubley of Burr Oak; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Karlene Raykovitz; two infant grandchildren; and a brother, Maurice Kane.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating the life of Lamar W. Kane will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Hackman Family Funeral Home — Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Chicago Road, Sturgis, with the Rev. Rodger Moyer of Sturgis Evangelical Church officiating.
Graveside services and interment will follow in Burr Oak Cemetery, with full military honors by the U.S. Army Honor Guard and the Capt. John J. Kelley V.F.W. Post #1355.
