Dorothy L. Pagels, age 95, of Centreville, passed away Wednesday March 21, 2012 at the Sturgis Hospital She was born on February 2,1917 in Sturgis to Albert and Nettie( Mingus) Pagels. Dorothy attended the Todd Rural School on Findley Road and graduated from Sturgis High School in 1935. She was employed at St. Joseph County Dept. of Social Services in Centerville for 42 years, retiring on December 31,1983. Dorothy was a member of the Sturgis Grange #1490 for over 50 years and was a 6th degree member of the Michigan State Grange.
Surviving are her sisters Eleanor Marvin, June (Carl) Stuby, all of Centreville, 3 sisters-in-law Kathleen (Kenneth) Studeman, Sturgis, Lovada Pagels, Burr Oak, and Ella Pagels, Centreville, 4 nieces, 12 nephews, many great and great great nieces and nephews. Dorothy shared a birthday with a great niece and a great great niece. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Lawrence, Harold, and L. Eugene Pagels, aunt Pauline (Mingus) Kime, nephews Allen Marvin, Roger Pagels and James Pagels, and brother-in-law Frederick Marvin.
Friends and relatives will be received on Saturday from 2- 6 p.m. at the Eley Funeral Home in Centreville, where Religious Services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Sandy Miller officiating. Interment will follow at the Nottawa Cemetery in Nottawa Township. Memorial contributions may be made to Nottawa United Methodist Church or Commission on Aging.
