Skip Lane, 74

Loren Robert ‘Skip’ Lane, 74, of Sturgis, went to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday , March 28, 2012, at Riverview Manor in Three Rivers, following an extended illness.

He was born March 26, 1938, at his parents’ home, a son of Lawrence Frank and Adilla Sarah (Clark) Lane. He resided in the Sturgis and Three Rivers areas most of his life, and 13 years in Mississippi.

He was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, with a mater’s degree.

On July 21, 1956, he married Norma Jean Stubig at St. John’s Lutheran Church, and celebrated 55 years of marriage in 2011.

He had been employed at Continental Can, was a teacher at Hinds Junior College, South Mississippi Junior College (Southwest Community College), Western Michigan University, Three Rivers High School and was pastor at Faith Bible Church in Jones for 13 years. He attended Mottville Bible Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and snowmobiling.

Surviving are his wife, Norma Jean Lane of Sturgis; three sons, Kent Lane, Kevin (Tracy) Lane and Mark (Renee) Lane, all of Sturgis; eight grandchildren, Madison, Loren, Autumn, Noah, Isaiah, Caleb, David and Eli Lane; a sister, Larella Irwin of Vandalia; a brother, Larry Lane of Three Rivers; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Leonard Lane.

Visitation is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon.

Funeral services are at 3 p.m. Saturday at Mottville Bible Church, with Pastor Mike Bender officiating. Interment will follow in White Pigeon Township Cemetery.

Donations may be directed to Mottville Bible Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
