Clean-up at Camp Fort Hill

The annual clean-up day at Camp Fort Hill kept about two dozen people busy throughout the day Saturday.

Volunteers at the 228-acre camp, at the border of White Pigeon and Sherman townships, cleared paths of brush and downed trees, raked leaves and performed general tasks at the camp’s seven cottages.

Dave Ludders, camp director, said Camp Fort Hill doesn’t have the staffing it needs to complete all the tasks performed by volunteers on the annual clean-up day. He said the multitude of tasks ensure the camp is ready for classrooms and weekend visitors for the 2012 season.

Ludders presented a certificate of appreciation to the Sturgis Eagles Lodge 1314 for the continued volunteer support it provides the camp.
