Paul Gadson, 85

Longtime local pharmacist, Charles “Paul” Gadson, passed away April 18, 2012, at 11:35 p.m. in Mason Health and Rehabilitation in Warsaw, Ind.

Paul was born March 12, 1927, in White Pigeon, to Charles and Hattie (Schmidt) Gadson. On May 28, 1949, Paul was united in marriage to Ruth Pendleton in White Pigeon.

Paul fought for our freedom in the Navy during both World War II and the Korean War.

Paul graduated from Ferris State University in Michigan, where he earned his pharmacy degree. After working in Washington, D.C., for a short time with his wife, they moved to Warsaw in 1951. Paul served the Warsaw community for 45 years as a pharmacist, working for Thornburg Drugs, Judd Drugs, Brennan’s Pharmacy and Hooks/Revco. He will be remembered for his unwavering compassion for the community and the integrity with which he served it. Paul retired in 1993 after Ruth’s passing.

Paul was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, Warsaw. He was a Scoutmaster for the Cub Scouts and a Mason.

Paul was a longtime volunteer who helped others in need by transporting them to medical appointments.

Left with a lifetime of memories to cherish Paul leaves two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Karen Gadson of West Chester, Pa., and Brian and Tracy Gadson of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Brad Parker of Warsaw; four grandchildren, Chance, Megan, Alex and Max; a brother, Carl Gadson and two sisters, Margaret and Dorothy.

Paul was preceded in death by his true love, Ruth Gadson, on July 31, 1993 and by his parents.

A memorial service to celebrate the life and legacy of Charles “Paul” Gadson was held April 21, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw. Pastor Toni L. Carmer officiated.

A private burial will take place at a later date at White Pigeon Township Cemetery, White Pigeon.
