Jackie Seng, 77

Jacquelyn Marie Martin Seng, age 77, of Sturgis passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at Thurston Woods Village.

She was born June 18, 1934, in Mingo Junction, Ohio, a daughter of the late John and Caroline (Hobson) Vehre.

On July 26, 1952, she was united in marriage to Edward “Ted” Martin. He passed away April 6, 1985.

On Sept. 30, 1989, she married Albert C. Seng.

Jacquelyn “Jackie” grew up in southern Ohio and moved with her parents to Youngstown, Ohio. She graduated from Liberty High School in 1952 as an honor student and was involved in many activities. She was an excellent seamstress, cook, gardener, and staying active was her claim to fame. She loved to golf, fish and work outside. No project was out of her reach. She loved to paint and wallpaper and helped so many others with their projects. She retired from First National Bank in Sturgis and had worked at many other banks in Youngstown.

More than anything, she loved and provided for her family.

She is survived by her husband, Al Seng; daughters Kathe (Marvin) Ailstock of Sturgis and Karen Summers (Marvin Stone) of Lynchburg, Va.

Her true loves are her grandchildren, Justin (Gretchen) Haller of Manistee, Matthew (Deb) Summers of Durham, N.C., Jared Ailstock of New York, N.Y., and Samantha Summers of Washington, D.C., and son-in-law Randy Summers; great-grandchildren Logan Moulder and Shelby Haller; sisters Janet Berlin and Joyce Wolf; a brother, Fred Vehre; stepchildren Donna Seng, Al Seng and Lynn (Joe) Achinapura; their children Alex and Carly Achinapura, Danielle Seng and Samantha Seng.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ted Martin; and a sister, Jean Woodrum.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, 200 Pleasant Ave., Sturgis. Funeral Services celebrating the life of Jacquelyn will be held immediately following the calling hours at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Deb Johnson and Robert Keim, retired local Pastor, First United Methodist Church, officiating.

Graveside services and interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be directed to First United Methodist Church or The Parkinson’s Foundation. Envelopes are available at the church or at Hackman Family Funeral Homes, which has been entrusted with the arrangements.
