Norman Brown Jr., 61, of Constantine, died Sunday, July 8, 2012, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, following a short illness.
He was born Sept. 8, 1950, in Ypsilanti, a son of Norman and Ardith (Wilson) Brown. He was a resident of the Constantine area since 1989, coming from Three Rivers. His early life was lived in Jackson.
He owned and operated Brown’s Pump Service in Jackson. He also was employed by General Motors as a job setter, Sigma Wire and Pace American.
He was active in motorcycle clubs in Jackson and Ypsilanti, serving as president and other offices. He was a member of The Sons of the American Legion, American Motorcycle Association, American Legion Riders, Huron Valley Nighthawks, Abate of Michigan and was an officer in the Three Rivers Elks Lodge.
He enjoyed gardening, hummingbirds and his dog, Chewie.
On June 23, 1995, he married Sondra G. Puckett in LaGrange, Ind. She survives, along with a daughter, Rene (Trent) VanHorn of Cape Coral, Fla.; a son, Norman Brown III of Sturgis; a stepdaughter, Sabrina Reynolds of Athens; his mother, Ardith Johnson of Jackson; seven grandchildren; a sister, Debby Leathead of Napoleon; a half-sister, Michelle (Randy) Roderick of Jackson; a brother, Kevin Brown of Jackson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; a sister, Beverly Spencer; and a brother, Craig Brown.
Visitation will take place 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Eickhoff, Farrand, Halverson Chapel in Three Rivers, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2012. Deacon Keith Puckett will officiate. Cremation will follow services.
