Donald Fitch, 84

Donald C. Fitch, age 84, of Three Rivers, died Thursday July 12, 2012 at his home following a long illness. He was born in Three Rivers on April 1, 1928 the son of Raymond and Ether Marie (Spooner) Fitch and was a lifetime resident of Three Rivers. He graduated from Three Rivers High School in 1947. Donald was a long time employee of Petersen Spring in Three Rivers. He was a volunteer Boy Scout Leader with Troop 424 for over 40 years. He was also an organizational 4-H Leader for 50 years. He engaged in general farming and enjoyed carpentry and woodworking. He especially enjoyed making wood toys for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Donald was married to Doris Eicholtz on July 25, 1948 in Three Rivers. She survives along with 4 children, Margaret (William) Thompson of Three Rivers, Carol (Don) Winchel of Marcellus, Anthony Fitch, and Dorothy (Stanley) Brueck both of Three Rivers; 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Vera Young of Three Rivers; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Terry Fitch; 2 brothers, Raymond and Dale Fitch; and a sister, Geraldine Kline.

Cremation has been conducted. A public graveside memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday July 17, 2012 in Moorepark Cemetery with Rev. Martin Culver of the Center Park United Methodist Church officiating. It is suggested that memorial donations be directed to the Special Olympics of St. Joseph County.
