Bob McKindley, 91

Donald Robert “Bob” McKindley, 91, of Birmingham, died Thursday, July 12, 2012 following a short illness. He was born in Kalamazoo on Oct. 27, 1920 the son of the late Homer F. and Lucile M. (Acker) McKindley. Bob graduated from Mendon High School in 1939 and was drafted into the Navy in 1942. He was honorably discharged from the service in 1946 as a Yeoman Second Class. He attended the Walsh Institute for Business in Detroit. Bob was hired in 1949 by the R.L. Polk Company as an accountant, and retired from the company in 1989 as an Assistant Secretary / Assistant Treasurer. He was a member of the Christian Science Church, and a lifetime member of Masonic Lodge #137 in Mendon.

Bob will be deeply missed by his many friends and family members. Surviving are one sister, Janice (Donald) Custard; two brothers, Jack (Nancy) McKindley and Homer McKindley, Jr.; and by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services reflecting Bob’s Christian Science faith will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 19, at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Burial will follow in Mendon Cemetery with Masonic Rites by F. & A.M. Lodge #137. Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
