Sherley Yoder, 77

Sherley Ann Yoder, age 77, of Sturgis, passed away Wednesday morning, July 18, 2012, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.

She was born June 5, 1935, in Sturgis, a daughter of the late Leon and Gertrude “Dot” (Summey) Kipker.

She was a waitress for several years at The Orbit and Dorothy’s Donut Shop, both in Sturgis, and for 7 1/2 years she worked at Greenfield Research in Howe, Ind. She retired from Precision Speed in Sturgis following several years of employment.

Sherley is survived by her sons, Steve (Cleo) Anway of Roanoke, Va., Leon Anway of Indianapolis, Douglas (Sheila) Anway, Kenneth Anway and James (Lisa) Yoder all of Sturgis; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Ray Kipker of Bronson; two sisters, Sandy Warner and Joyce (Charles) Taylor, both of Branch; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Pamela Tyler; a sister, Peggy Pant; and a brother, Roger Kipker.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating the life of Sherley Yoder will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Hackman Family Funeral Homes — Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis. Pastor George Milliman will officiate. A graveside committal of the ashes will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
