Ora E. Miller, age 64, of Colon, passed away, Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012, at IU Health Goshen Hospital in Goshen, Ind.
Ora was born Nov. 5, 1947, in Wolcottville, Ind., a son of the late Emery and Mary (Chupp) Miller.
Ora had made his home on Palmer lake for the past 31 years, coming from Wolcottville.
He was first married to Marty Troyer and later, on Sept. 21, 1996, married Rosemary McCartney. She preceded him in death May 26, 2009.
Ora had worked as a truck driver for Direct Services of Kalamazoo for many years and later for Marine Transport of Elkhart, Ind., retiring in 2010.
He liked to hunt and fish and especially enjoyed barbecuing for his family gatherings.
He is survived by two daughters, Vicki L. (Shawn) Machan of Fennville and Kimberly J. (McCartney) Day of Colon; five grandchildren, Tori, Ryan, Parker, Arionna and Brogan; daughter-in-law Wendy McCartney of Colon; several brothers and sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy McCartney; and sister, Lydia Miller.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Schipper Funeral Home in Colon.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Ora E. Miller will held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at the funeral home, with Mr. David J. Farrell officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Colon.
If desired, the family suggest memorials be made in memory of Ora to either the Goshen Care House or the Goshen Cancer Center. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
