United Way needs items for auction

The St. Joseph County United Way is appealing to the public for items to be included in its 2012 annual silent auction.

Staged during the St. Joseph County Grange Fair, the auction is the United Way’s largest fundraiser event annually.

Kelly Hostetler, executive director of the St. Joseph County United Way, said the 2011 silent auction was a success, and she looks forward to a good follow-up in 2012. She said a new location, which found the auction inside a permanent structure instead of a tent, proved to be a successful change of venue for the longtime auction.

Hostetler said examples of popular auction items include jewelry, tools, antiques, themed gift baskets, gift certificates, electronics and artwork. The United Way is willing to pick up any items anyone wishes to donate.

Moe information is available at 467-9099. This year’s fair is Sept. 16-22.
