Merna Mae Alleshouse, age 91, of Colon, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at Fairview Nursing & Rehabilitation Community in Centreville.
Merna was born April 14, 1921, in Colon, a daughter of the late Cecil and Minnie (Broker) Hart.
Merna had lived in Colon and Battle Creek, graduating from Colon High School with the class of 1940.
On May 23, 1942, she married Nelson J. Alleshouse in Burr Oak.
Merna was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Colon and belonged to the Lutheran Ladies Aid. She loved time spent with her family and enjoyed her dogs.
She is survived by her husband, Nelson of Colon; two sons, David (Patti) Alleshouse of Mendon and Dennis (Dianne) Alleshouse of Battle Creek; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Lloyd Hart; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell and Bill Hart.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today at Schipper Funeral Home in Colon.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Merna M.Alleshouse will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Colon, with Pastor David Grimm officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Colon.
If desired, the family suggest memorials be made in memory of Merna to either St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or Fairview Nursing & Rehabilitation Community.
