Harold G. Wesse, 88, of White Pigeon, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at his home, following an extended illness.
He was born Aug. 27, 1924, in Dolton, Ill., a son of Herman and Elsie (Beckman) Wesse.
He had been a resident of the White Pigeon area since 1948, having spent his early life in Illinois.
On Sept. 25, 1948, he married B. Juanita Schultz in Constantine.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, private first class, serving in Italy, and earned three bronze stars and other citations.
He was employed for as a machine operator at Kirsch Company, more than 30 years in Sturgis, retiring in 1982.
He was a member of White Pigeon American Legion Post #138, a life member of the DAV in Elkhart, Ind. He was past member of the VFW Post #1355 in Sturgis. He was a member of White Pigeon Men’s Bowling Association and was a White Pigeon volunteer fireman. he enjoyed woodworking, fishing and gardening.
Surviving are his wife, B. Juanita Wesse of White Pigeon; two daughters, Donna J. Hendricks of Sturgis and Marsha K. (Dan) Chapman of Constantine; a son, Marty (Shirley) Wesse of Shipshewana, Ind.; a daughter-in-law, Linda Wesse of White Pigeon; 14 grandchildren;
27 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dennis W. Wesse; three brothers; and a sister.
There will be no visitation. Graveside services and interment will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at White Pigeon Township Cemetery. The Rev. Gary Cox of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Shipshewana will officiate. Full military rites will follow.
