Heaven gained a beautiful soul on the morning of Oct. 28, 2012, Judy Ann Grove, age 71, lost her battle with cancer at her home.
She was born Oct. 4, 1941, in Sturgis, a daughter of the late Raymond and Caroline (Baker) Vanzile. Judy Grove was a lifetime resident of Sturgis, where she was married to Carl Edwin Grove, they had three children: Sherri Grove of Bridgman, Julie Grove-Moran of Virginia Beach, Va., and Teresa (Daniel) Rhodeback of Mount Vernon, Ohio. Judy has several grandchildren: Erica (Curtis) Chapman, Myles Sutton, Collin Sutton, Daniel Moran, Patrick Moran, Alycia Rhodeback and Ryder Rhodeback; and great-grandchildren Starr Chapman and Riley Chapman.
Judy has four sisters, Carol (Gary) Jones, Kimalee (Wayne) Haylett, Laurie (Bill) Riley, and Susan Conrad. Judy has three brothers: Robert (Janet) Crippen, Rick (Cindy) Crippen and Terry Crippen, and several nieces and nephews. Judy was a graduate of Sturgis High School, class of 1959, went on to Warner Beauty school and worked as a self-employed beautician for many years as well as Thurston Woods Village Beauty Shop. Judy was a member of Pretty Prairie United Methodist Church in Howe, Ind., and was a past member of Sturgis First Baptist Church. Judy was a supporter of 4-H.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Hackman Family Funeral Homes — Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Chicago Road, Sturgis.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Judy Grove will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. Jean Hess of Pretty Prairie United Methodist Church will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Pretty Prairie Cemetery in Howe, Ind.
