Rose Rohr, 86

Rose Ann Rohr, age 86, of Sturgis, passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2012 at the Sturgis Hospital.

She was born Dec. 28, 1925 in Swanton, Ohio, a daughter to the late Harry and Florence (Lemly) Batdorf.

Rose moved to Sturgis in 1953 from Swanton, Ohio. On July 20, 1946, she married John A. Rohr Sr. in Swanton. He preceded her in death Feb. 13, 1994.

Rose had been employed by the Kirsch Company in Sturgis for 30 years and retired in 1983. She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, U.A.W., the Altar Society and enjoyed time spent with Red Hat Society, reading and traveling. She also enjoyed time spent with co-workers, friends, and family and she was a positive, caring person and faithful in her commitments to the Lord and in the things important in her life.

Surviving are a son, Larry A. Rohr of Sturgis; special friend Janet Johnson of Hillsdale; five grandchildren, Patrick (Dena) Rohr of Arizona, Franklin Rohr and fiancee Tammy Justice, Lee (Sheila) Rohr and Christopher Rohr, all of Sturgis, and Erica (Jeffrey) Johnson of Denver; seven great-grandchildren, Joshua, Evan, Marissa, Andrew, Aleese, Oliver and Clara; a brother, Harry Batdorf of California; two sisters, Jane Jones and Dorothy Kanarowski, both of Ohio; a sister-in-law: Margie Batdorf of Swanton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, John A. Rohr Jr. and daughter-in-law, Paulette Rohr; four brothers, Robert, Raymond, Paul and George; two sisters, Margaret Ludwig and infant sister Patricia Batdorf.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Hackman Family Funeral Home — Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Chicago Road, Sturgis. A scripture service will immediately follow the visitation at 7 p.m. Thursday.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Angels Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father German Perez-Diaz, celebrant. Interment and graveside services will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be directed to Holy Angels Catholic Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
