Loretta Barton, 102

Loretta F. Barton, 102, of Elkhart, Ind., passed to the Lord peacefully in her sleep on Thursday (Nov. 8, 2012) at her home. She was born Sept. 23, 1910 in Sandusky, Ohio and was raised in Three Rivers and graduated from Three Rivers High School.

She is survived by her son, Douglas Barton; four grandchildren, Melissa Barton, Cherie Barton, Troy Barton, Kelly Barton; seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Anna (Lang) Dircks; one son, Thomas Barton, Jr.; her husband of 45 years, Thomas Barton, Sr.; four brothers, Eugene, Earl, Fredarick and Lester Dircks; two sisters, Margaret and Anna.

Loretta worked at Montgomery Ward Catalog Store and retired from Shaum Electric.

She was a strong woman and a loving mother and grandmother. She gave her all to anyone she touched and will be missed terribly.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, Elkhart, Ind. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Larry Rice, Chaplain with the Center for Hospice Care will preside and burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery.
