The unveiling of a refurbished house for Chandler McBride, his mother and sister last week in Three Rivers received strong support from the community.
The 18-year-old McBride, who was paralyzed from the neck down following a June diving accident, had been hospitalized since the incident before returning to Three Rivers early this month.
McBride and his family stayed in a local hotel while a team of volunteers worked on making their Lovers Lane residence handicap accessible to accommodate McBride, his wheelchair and service dog.
Local builder Bruce Muehlberger helped organize the volunteer effort, which totaled nearly 2,000 hours collectively. A number of local businesses were also recognized for providing materials at or below cost, or for no charge at all.
