Clyde Troyer, 77

Clyde O. Troyer, age 77, of Sturgis and Arcadia, Fla., passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at Peace River Regional Medical Center in Port Charlotte, Fla.

Clyde was born Nov. 29, 1935, in Mio, a son of the late John and Anna (Miller) Troyer.

On Sept. 3, 1960, he married Dorothy Miller in Holland, Ohio.

Clyde attended high school in Fairview, then received his bachelor’s degree from University of Michigan in 1962 and later his master’s degree from Central Michigan University in 1966.

He worked as a mathematics teacher from 1962 to 1979 and as an insurance agent from 1979 until his retirement in 2005. He was founder of Troyer Insurance Agency in Sturgis.

He was a member of the Locust Grove Mennonite Church in Findley, and the Pine Creek Chapel in Arcadia. Clyde enjoyed chess, golfing and vacationing with family.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of Sturgis and Arcadia; a daughter, Cheryl (Bruce) Schwartz of Elkhart, Ind.; two sons, Scott (Kaye Ness) Troyer of Kansas City, Mo., and Brian E. (Jessilyn) Troyer of Sturgis; five grandchildren, Heather Schwartz, Nicole Schwartz, Tyler Schwartz, Myah Troyer, and Brooke Troyer; three brothers, Paul (Fanny) Troyer, Ray (Linda) Troyer and Otis (Jane) Troyer; and four sisters, Delila (Menno) Chupp, Ruby (Lewis) Miller, Edith (William) Hooley and Wanda Foster.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Levi Troyer; sister-in-laws Helen Troyer and Beulah Troyer; and a brother-in-law, Michael Foster.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at Locust Grove Mennonite Church.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Clyde O. Troyer will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, with Pastor William Beck and Pastor William Hooley officiating.

A committal service and burial will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery in Findley.

If desired, the family suggest memorials be made in memory of Clyde to the Locust Grove Mennonite Church (Worship Team) or to Pine Creek Chapel. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Schipper Funeral Home in Colon.
