Rexford “Rex” Earl Pryor, age 95, of Three Rivers, passed away on Sunday evening, December 9, 2012 at the Sunshine House surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 7, 1917 in Lansing, MI. , the son of Preston and Grace (Bronson) Pryor.
Rex and his family moved to Three Rivers in 1950, where he and his late wife Ethel founded Pryor Heating and Air Conditioning. Rex was very active in and loved the Three Rivers community. He was past President and Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International, the B.P.O.E. Lodge #1246, a board member of Camp Wakeshma, and a Boy Scouts Leader. Rex was also past board member of the Carnegie Center for the Arts. Both he and Ethel were long time members of the First Presbyterian Church, where he served on church boards and committees.
Rex was a very dedicated father and never missed any functions for his children and grandchildren. He volunteered and taught woodcarving at Camp Miniwanca. Rex also enjoyed knitting, bee keeping, painting, fishing, and sailing at his cottage on Pleasant Lake. Rex embraced life and found joy in each day.
Rex was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife of 64 years, Ethel in 2004.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory, four children, Richard (Laurie) Pryor, Janet (Richard) Michaels, Robert (Cynthia) Pryor, and Suanne (Jeffrey) Jackson; twelve grandchildren, David(Julie) James(Jill) Benjamin(Terri), and Jonathon(Carrie) Pryor, Matthew(Jennifer), Anthony(Lindsey) and Joseph Michaels, Jason, Joshua, and Jordan and Craig(Lindy) Jackson, Lisa(Scott) Karle; twenty six great grandchildren; brother, Reginal(Marty)Pryor; very dear cousin, Marge Smith along with many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2012 at the Hohner Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Brenda Deily officiating.
Interment will be held at Schoolcraft Cemetery, Schoolcraft, MI.
