Dick Thomas, 73

Richard W. (Dick) Thomas, 73, of White Pigeon, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born Aug. 17, 1939, in Lansing, a son of the late Gale J. and Norma M. (Nichols) Thomas.

On Dec. 14, 1984, he married Connie L. Martin in White Pigeon.

Dick served in the Army National Guard for six years in the Vietnam era. He was a converting superintendent at Simplex Inc. in Constantine, then became owner-operator of Thomas Trucking, retiring in 2001.

He was a 1957 graduate of Colon High School. He enjoyed camping and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved being surround by his children and grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife; children Cindy (Dan) Royce of White Pigeon, Mike (Lori) Thomas of Constantine and Tiny Miller of Goshen, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Cora (Charlie) Foupht of Coldwater; mother-in-law Lydia Martin of Constantine; three other sisters-in-law; and two brothers-in-law.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bob Thomas; a nephew, Scott Thomas; a son-in-law, Paul Miller; father-in-law Cleo Martin; and a sister-in-law, Pamela Martin.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at White Pigeon Church of Christ, South Kalamazoo Street, White Pigeon, with Pastor Barry Edds officiating.

Interment will follow in Mottville Township Cemetery.

Memorials are being directed to the family, who will present it to the church and to the White Pigeon Fire Department.
