Sylvia Yoder, age 84, of LaGrange, Ind., died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at 8:33 a.m. at Miller’s Mary Manor in LaGrange.
She was born Dec. 1, 1928, in Nappanee, Ind., to the late Ben P. and Ida (Miller) Yoder.
She was married Sept. 5, 1948, to Sylvanus L. Yoder. Sylivia was a homemaker and a member of the Locust Grove Mennonite Church.
She is survived by her husband, Sylvanus L. Yoder of LaGrange; two daughters, Connie (Ben) Bontrager of Colon, Mich. and Sharon (John) Mishler of LaGrange, Ind.; two sons, Howard Yoder of Sturgis, Mich. and Marion (Pattie) Yoder of Sturgis, Mich.; daughter-in-law Anna Yoder of Topeka, Ind.; four sisters, Fannie Mae Hochstetler of Three Rivers, Mich., Alma (Clark) Schweitzer of Goshen, Ind., Clara Stauffer of Elkhart, Ind., and Iva (Dean) Christner of Shipshewana, Ind.; two brothers, Melvin (Elsie) Yoder of Sarasota, Fla. and Lonnie (Clara) Yoder of Hamilton, Mo.; 18 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son; one grandson; four brothers and one sister.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Locust Grove Mennonite Church in Findley, Mich. Funeral services celebrating the life of Sylvia Yoder will be Monday, Dec. 31, 2012 at 10 a.m. from the church with Pastor Bill Beck officiating. Burial will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery in Findley.
