Charles Cordon Norton, age 93, of Three Rivers, went to be with his Lord peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 at Three Rivers Health. Charles was born on Feb. 12, 1919 on his family farm at Harwood Lake, Cass. Co., MI. the son of Leonard C. and Hazel (Ferguson) Norton.
Charles has been a life long resident of this area. He was united in marriage to Margueret (VanEpps) on March 29, 1941 and together and out of this union was formed four loving children and the Norton family dairy farm which Charles and Margueret owned and operated along with their children until its sale in 1978, just after becoming members of the “500 Club”. Charles was a constant presence and influence on his son Bill’s farm, which included part of the Norton Family farm, until his last day. He was the last living Charter member of the Corey Church of the Nazarene where he sat on many boards and committees. He was also a past member of the Corey Lake School Board and Fabius Township Supervisor for six years.
Mr. Norton was preceded in death by his parents, and four brothers, Stanley, Arvid, Wesley, and Harold Norton.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife of 72 years, Margueret Norton, of Three Rivers, four children, Jim (Julia) Norton, of Goshen, IN., Ric (Toy) Norton and Bill (Kathy) Norton, both of Three Rivers, and Maxine Isaac, of Constantine; ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. As well as a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8th, 2013 at the Hohner Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 9th, 2013 at the Corey Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Gary Carr and Stephen Norton officiating.
Interment will be held immediately following services at Poe Cemetery.
