Dolores Kay “Dee” Elkins, age 61, of Sturgis, Michigan passed away Tuesday evening January 8, 2013 at her home.
She was born October 10, 1951 in Elkhart, Indiana a daughter of the late Alton and Eliza (Beach) Bottom.
Dee resided in Sturgis since 1973. Her early life was lived in Adamsville, Michigan and she was a graduate of Edwardsburg High School with the class of 1970.
On April 19, 1973 she married Paul Elkins in Adamsville.
Dee had been employed by Burger King, Phillips Industries, Med Tech and Blessing Horns.
She was a Life Member of the D.A.V. in Elkhart, Indiana. Dee was a dedicated wife and mother and truly loved every minute she spent with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Paul; two daughters: Julie (Ryan) Burkey of Sturgis and Tammy (David) Cramer of Lenoir City, Tennessee; four grandchildren: Shelby Elizabeth Adams-Elkins of Goshen, Indiana, Tristan Burkey, Blake Burkey and Myah Burkey all of Sturgis; two sisters: Tonya Bottom of Texas and Linda (Terry) Shetterly of Baldwin; one brother: William (Barbara) Bottom of Elkhart, Indiana and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son: Chad Elkins in 1999.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Friday at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes – Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-3284. Cremation will follow the visitation. A graveside service and burial of the ashes will take place at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the White Pigeon Township Cemetery in White Pigeon. Mr. Larry Wallman will officiate.
