Brian Evans, 40

Brian J. Evans of Three Rivers passed away Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at his home.

Brian was born Dec. 4, 1972, in Edison, N.J., to Edgar and Jacqueline (Kundzala) Evans.

Brian was a 1992 graduate of Lakeland High School in LaGrange, Ind. While in high school he was a star athlete in track and field and earned a scholarship to the University of Indianapolis. Along with earning his Bachelor of Science degree, while in college Brian continued to excel at track and field in the discus, shot put and hammer throw.

Along with winning a national championship in 1995, he was a seven time All-American and was invited to the United States Olympic team before graduating from the University of Indianapolis in 1996. Brian was recently named to the University of Indianapolis Hall of Fame.

On Sept. 27, 2003, Brian married Diana G. Rank in Sturgis. Brian was a self-employed graphic artist. In his spare time, Brian enjoyed making pottery, music and playing the guitar. He also loved his dog, Oliver. But his true passion in life were his daughters, Claire and Emily.

Brian is survived by his wife Diana G. (Rank) Evans and two daughters, Claire Elizabeth Evans and Emily Grace Evans, all of Three Rivers; his parents, Edgar and Jacqueline Evans of Howe, Ind.; and a brother, Edgar J. (Sarah) Evans of Wichita, Kan.

A funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in LaGrange, with Father J. Steele, CSC, officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013 at the church. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Howe.

Memorial contributions may be given to a fund for his daughters.
