Nancy Fisher, 87

Nancy C. Fisher, age 87, of Livonia, and a former longtime resident of Sturgis, passed away Wednesday morning, Nov. 21, 2012, at Heartland Health Care Center Dorvin in Livonia.

She was born Aug. 3, 1925, in Port au Prince, Haiti, daughter of the late Oscar Ray and Margaret McFarland (Brown) Cauldwell.

Nancy resided in Sturgis from 1950-2005 when she moved to Livonia to be closer to her family.

On June 30, 1945, she married David C. Fisher in Laguna Beach, Calif. He died Aug. 8, 2005.

For several years she worked as an assistant to Robert Sayers at Sayers and Associates in Sturgis. She also worked as a secretary for the Girl Scouts of America and she was a dedicated homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother.

Nancy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis and a past member of the Sturgis Women’s Club, the Sturgis Garden Club, Sturgis Historical Society and the Klinger Lake Country Club. Nancy enjoyed volunteering her time at the Sturgis Public Schools, playing golf, gardening and entertaining friends. She loved traveling on business trips with her husband and visiting family.

She is survived by two daughters, Bonnie (Bob) Burke of Ann Arbor and Mary (Michael McGee) Fisher of Novi; one son, David Craig (Feliza) Fisher of Tucson, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Kathleen McGee and David McGee both of Livonia and Christopher Burke and Catherine Burke both of Ann Arbor.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Sara Fisher; and one sister, Sara Ambrosinni.

Private burial at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis has taken place. The family will receive friends from 1–1:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis where a memorial service celebrating the life of Nancy C. Fisher will begin at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Michael Wicks will officiate.

Hackman Family Funeral Homes — Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, is entrusted with the arrangements.
