Kolyn Wayne Harker, infant son of Wayne and Kelli Harker, was stillborn Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at Sturgis Hospital after he had been diagnosed with Trisomy 13, a rare genetic disorder affecting only one in 10,000 babies.
He is survived by his parents, Wayne and Kelli (Modert) Harker of Sturgis; maternal grandparents, Scott Modert of Sturgis and Michelle Hershberger of Howe, Ind.; fraternal grandparents, George Harker of Colon, and Dala Harris of Elwood, Ind.; maternal great-grandparents, Raymond and Joan Modert of Burr Oak; an aunt, Amber Phillips of Howe; uncles Daniel Harker of Sturgis and Justin Harker of Colon; a half-uncle, Chris Bryan of Elwood, Ind.; and cousins Madisyn, Brycen and Brody.
He was preceded in death by his fraternal great-grandparents, Willard and Barb Harker.
The family would like to thank Kathy Speilman, a photographer and part of Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, a non-profit organization providing the gift of remembrance photography for parents suffering the loss of a child.
According to the families wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements were entrusted to Hackman Family Funeral Home — Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis.
