Esther Mae McConn, 87, of Bronson, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility in Coldwater.
Visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013, at Dutcher-Kolcz Funeral Home in Bronson.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the funeral home, with Pastor Terry Siler of First Congregational Church officiating. Interment will follow at Bronson Cemetery.
Esther was born Jan. 5, 1926, in Greenfield Township, Ind., to Kenneth and Hazel (Berry) Alleshouse. On June 5, 1947, she married Orrin W. McConn at First Baptist Church in Bronson. He preceded her in death Aug. 28, 1978.
Mrs. McConn had worked as a bookkeeper for many years at the Economy Garage in Bronson. She was a member of First Congregational Church in Bronson and had volunteered for many years at Bronson Elementary Schools and for the Community Health Center Ladies Auxiliary. Esther was active with the Branch County Historical Society and had served on the Bronson election committee since 1965. She had formerly enjoyed water aerobics, but spent most of her time as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Esther is survived by her sons, Donald (Pamela) McConn and Larry (Megan) McConn, all of Bronson; her brothers, Gordon Alleshouse of Bronson, Allan (Shirley) Alleshouse of Fremont, Ind., and A.J. (Sandy) Alleshouse of Kalamazoo; her grandchildren, Brad McConn, Steven McConn, Kurt McConn, Andrew McConn, Patrick McConn, Sherri McElvain, Chelsey McConn and Anna McConn; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Scott, in 1968; her brothers, Delbert, Delmer and Ronald Alleshouse; and her sister, Donna Poley.
