William F.(Bill) Broker III, age 66, of Colon, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, in Fergus Falls, MN.
Bill was born Jan. 14, 1947, in Sturgis, Mich., a son to William F. and Margaret K. (Haroff) Broker II.
Bill had lived all of his life in Colon, graduating from Colon High School with the Class of 1965 He furthered his education at the University of Michigan, receiving his a bachelor’s degree in cellular biology.
On Aug. 23, 1969, he married Kathy A. Bellew in Colon.
Bill was an active member of the New Life Assembly of God Church in Colon, where he enjoyed playing the piano for many years. He loved the lord and had a big heart for people, often selflessly devoting his time to those in need.
Bill had worked as a school teacher in Burr Oak for 10 years, he then owned and operated Broker Concrete in Colon and had recently been driving truck for Go Cargo Trailers of Colon.
He loved to tinker and spend time with his grandchildren. He loved riding motorcycles and taking trips with his wife around the country.
He is survived by his wife Kathy A. Broker of Colon; four children, Julie (Chris) Smallidge of Paw Paw, Nathan (Tami) Broker of Plymouth, Brett Broker of Colon and Kylie (Jarrod) Dingman of Colon; 10 grandchildren; mother, Margaret K. Broker of Colon; sister Janet (Larry) Decker of Colon; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Schipper Funeral Home LTD. in Colon. Funeral services celebrating the life of William F. Broker III will be Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at 11 a.m. from the New Life Assembly of God Church in Colon, with pastor Dan Prus officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Colon.
