Alice Hutchins, 97

Alice M. Hutchins, 97, of Cincinnati, Ohio, died March 22, 2013, at the Courtyard at Seasons in Cincinnati, Ohio. She had been in declining health since December.

She was born May 12, 1915, in Constantine, Mich., a daughter to Christian and Phoebe (Miller) Miller. She has resided in Cincinnati since February 2012, coming from New Jersey and Oak Park, Ill. where she lived from 1957-2004. Her early life was spent in the White Pigeon area.

She was married to Samuel E. Hutchins. He preceded her in death on Sept. 12, 2004.

She was a registered nurse employed in the Chicago area for the Campbell Soup Company, hospitals and was last employed as the head nurse on the medical surgical ward at Mary Thompson Hospital, retiring in 1986.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Oak Park, Ill., the Women’s Circle of the church, past den mother, Girl Scout leader for Lone Tree Adult Girl Scout Troop 007. She enjoyed sewing and making clothes for her family, baking, crafts and PTA.

Surviving are two daughters, Sandra (Oscar) Moreno and Barbara Addy; son, Dr. Robert (Deborah) Hutchins; grandchildren, Joshua Moreno, Stephen and Joanna Hutchins, Drew and Ryan Addy; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Dr. Kendrick T. Hutchins; nine brothers and sisters.

Relatives and friends may call from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon where services will follow at 1 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Scott Manning, of the White Pigeon United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in White Pigeon Township Cemetery.
