Man arrested in Sturgis

Sturgis Police last week arrested a 66-year-old man on a warrant stemming from a May incident, when he allegedly put his hand up a teenager’s skirt.

Department officials said Ira Lytle, 66, was arrested Thursday after an officer who knew of the warrant apprehended the Sturgis resident outside the police station.

Two students at the nearby Sturgis Alternative School walking back to the building after lunch when they encountered Lytle walking toward them on the sidewalk in the 100 block of North Nottawa Street.

As the girls walked past Lytle, he allegedly put his hand up the skirt of one of the 14-year-old girls.

They reported the incident upon returning to school and the warrant was subsequently issued for Lytle, police said.
