Man arrested for fleeing police

A 22-year-old Three Rivers man was arrested last week after attempting to flee from authorities in Park Township. The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department said a deputy attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle around 1 a.m. Friday on Carpenter Road, near the intersection of Edgerton Road.

In an attempt to elude the deputy, the driver drove west on Edgerton Road, where he slammed on the brakes and lost control of his vehicle, authorities said.

The man, whose name was not released pending arraignment, then drove a short distance back east on Edgerton Road and turned into a driveway, where he exited the vehicle and was arrested, according to the sheriff’s department.

He faces charges of fleeing and eluding, carrying a concealed weapon and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
